Post apocalyptic Fallout

fallout

So I am addictied to this game now, so much so that I am going to meet a guy downtown tomorrow around lunch time just so I can buy the game.

Why am I doing it this way?

$30 bucks thats why!

The game came out in November and even months later it is still selling for $69.99 new and $64.99 used. Crazy prices to pay for a game and I am pretty cheap as you have already discovered if you have read any of my previous posts. The dude is going to sell the game to me for $40 no taxes.

I have brought games and other items like this many times before. I use the forums on the site Redflagdeals.com and I can usually find what I am looking for almost instantly.

Back to the game. This game by far has to be one of the best games I have played in years.

I am a fan of the Role playing games where you have to buy armour and weapons and then go out and upgrade your character to advance in the game. This game does all that and more and so far I have yet to put it down (I rented it for 5 days and now I dream of it so I have to buy it).

I didn’t think anything could take me away from my COD or Rockband but this one has it’s hooks in me.

If you like the RPG’s then you should pick this title up or at the very least give it a rental for the weekend and I am sure you will love it. Don’t give up to quickly though, the game takes time to learn all about how to play, from the radiation to the limited ammo it makes the game a tough start. If you stick with it though there will come a time where you can make it through a building :D

Here is the official site, a series of videos and if you want to watch someone play the game you can watch the entire game being played right here (but frankly I don’t understand who would ever want to do this?)

Rod in hand, two in the weeds

fisher

I played my first Bass fishing game on the Nintendo system.

I used to sit on the side of the Red River in Winnipeg fishing away when I was young as well.

No one ever really showed me how to fish so I spent many years on the Red breaking lines cause the minute the fish would hook themselves I would just start reeling in until I either had a fish or the line broke.

One day I played a fishing game on the Nintendo and it introduced me to the concept of “the fight.”

That moment where you let the line out because it is to tight but also keeping the line just tight enough that the fish doesn’t disappear in the distance or cough up the hook.

Ever since I have played the fishing game I have been “hooked” on fishing games ever since but none have been as great as the PS2 game “Bass Landing.”

I can remember spending hours (days) with that game, why you ask?
Because it had this controller

fish-control

The Agetec controller was the best controller ever, I played my first one until it finally broke down from all the wear to it.

Ever since that controller I have never come across another fishing controller since then and I have looked.
I have both the Wii and a PS3 and have not come across any controller. There is one for the Wii which is just a crazy holder for your nunchuck and controller. I tried it out but didn’t have the feel of the Agetec controller.

NOW I come across this bad boy

fish-xbox-rod

Bastards! It would have to be for the XBOX. the only system I don’t have :(

Oh well, maybe I can write them an email and ask if they can build me a custom one for the PS3.

It looks like a sweet controller and I would love to sit back in the house again and fish the night away.

It comes with the game “Bass Pro Shops: The Strike” this fall and you can read more about it here and here and here is a video of a the game and pole in action

Good Food Expo (Saturday April 24th)

good-food-expo

Yay for food!

This weekend I went with my wife and two girls to pick up my daughters first pair of glasses (she is 6).
We took her to two different optometrists who said she had a slight vision problem but recommended we leave it a year to see if it corrects itself.
Fast forward to Saturday a year later and we are picking up her specs.

Nothing cuter than a six year old with glasses on :)

After we picked up the glasses we headed over to the Mississauga International Centre to catch the “Good Food Expo.”

What is it?
Well it is a place to go and try new items that are either in grocery stores right now or are coming soon.

I was the “Hot Man” of the group meaning every time we walked up to a booth and there was something spicy I would hear “My dad loves hot stuff!”

They must have had around a dozen different sauce companies that served hot sauce and I tried them all.

I only found one that I really liked and the others were angry with me when I told them that I really didn’t like it because it was either not that hot or had to much of a vinegar flavour to them.  They were mostly upset with the “vinegar” comment and would snap back with “We don’t put that much in” or “Well we don’t taste that!”

I mean don’t get upset with me if I try your product and don’t like it. If you are going to put your product out there and ask for someone’s opinion then keep in mind it won’t always be 110% positive.

For reference on my type of hot sauce, on a scale of 1 to 10 I am around a 5 or 6 for hot. I like a bit of a bite but I am not into burning the first layer of my mouth.

One cool person I met was a fruit/vegetable carver; it is a form of Thai art.
This chef was crazy fast and I spoke to him for a few minutes, my daughter told him “My daddy is an artist!’ and he asked me if I would like to try.
I took a knife and he handed me a small watermelon. I did my best and proceeded to chop away at the melon.

After all was said and done he handed me his card and said he doesn’t hand these out that often but he wanted to give it to me.

I think I will call him and see what can come out of it, I would love to learn how to carve fruit like he did.

I will add pictures later :)

Energy (a picture, worth a thousand kWh)-03 #

meter

I snapped a picture for each day on my meter. I figure this would be a good way to keep track of my use since the “Smart” meter I have on the side of my house isn’t as smart as it thinks it is.

These three pictures are from April 17th, 18th and 19th

Oh yeah, my wife thinks I should stop stressing about my power usage and she reminded me that we expected an increase in the hydro bill anyway.
Yeah I know that, thanks babe.

Either way I guess my interest in this has shown to be more of an obsession than the great project that it is.

I apologize if I am coming across negative or to stressed about what I am doing as I am more excited about this and want to be as honest and detailed as possible.

:D

On another note, a GO train station in Mississauga will be generating it’s own power tomorrow.

April 20, 2009 07:59 AM – Ontario Transportation Minister Jim Bradley will be at the Lisgar GO Station tomorrow morning to officially launch the new wind turbine that will power the station.”

It is firing up a $620,000 wind generator tomorrow (Source article and the location of the station), not that I am complaining but you would think that a $620,000 solution would generate 100% of the stations needs but the article says it only covers 80% of the stations needs.

The half-million dollar price tag really puts it out of the homeowners reach.

Wonder how hard it would be to get a bunch of homeowners together and by some land up north and setup a wind farm? Probably the red-tape alone would be a bitch to get through.
